Leffe is actually a district of Dinant, located on the right side of the Meuse, 1km below the town.
The Abbey of Leffe has been listed as a historic building since February 1st, 1937.
Through the main Abbey entrance, at the angle of the Northern and Western aisles, the visitor comes into a courtyard surrounded with buildings. The eastern aisle, called the "Prélature" is now occupied by the guest house. The former and current guest quarter, in a part of the Northern aisle, comes next to the Prélature. After 1918 a three aisles cloister was built up in the Western aisle of the inner courtyard. After the destruction of the gallery in 1940 a pleasure garden was created. The Leffe, now underground and canalised, flows under it. The southern aisle is made up with a series of attched buildings from the 17th and 18th centuries. A former warehouse, fully transformed, currenly hosts the religious’ appartments. It is flanked by a three storried pinion with three bays, leaning on a small "à la Mansart" pavilion surmounted by a bulb (currently the "reviews" hall). Next to the Prélature is a building dated by the anchors from 1662.
